Embroidered by Winifred Adair Roberts, who collected the signatures and then embroidered over them in 1914, I thought this was going to be a handkerchief, but it’s large and lace edged, with white embroidery on white linen. Not all of the names are easily decipherable but include:

Rachel Barrett, Mary Leigh, Gladys Evans, Ida Wylie, Geraldine Lomax, Annie Kenney, Flora Drummond, Beatrice Sanders, Evelyn Sharp, Charlotte P Gilman, George Lansbury, Georgina A Brackenbury, L. Garrett Anderson, M. Lansbury, Inez Bensusan, Lilian Lenton, Marie J Naylor, Mabel Tuke, Mary Richardson, Christabel Pankhurst, E. Sylvia Pankhurst, and E Pankhurst.

This is a sketch of the layout

and a detail of Annie Kenney’s signature

The edging of the tablecoth is a wide band of lace – or possibly drawn threadwork with a floral pattern.

Hello — can you tell me, please, whether Ethel Smyth is included?
Thank you.

I’m sorry I can’t! The names I’ve listed were the ones that I could decipher – some of them were difficult to read. It’s worth calling the Women’s Library to ask – they are very helpful – and may have a list of the names.
